Founder and CEO
Bill McGowan, Founder and CEO of Clarity Media Group, is a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist who has reported over 700 nationally televised stories. His credits include ABC News 20/20; CBS News 48 Hours, Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel, Dow Jones Television and MSNBC. He has devised interviewing strategies for news figures such as Charlie Rose, Connie Chung, Bryant Gumbel, and Bill O'Reilly. In front of the camera, he has anchored hundreds of hours of news and information programming and has conducted thousands of interviews with newsmakers, CEO's, celebrities, doctors, book authors, attorneys, and professional athletes.
Bill now uses that experience to coach clients on how to exude more confidence and command on television and in front of an audience. Those he has trained include Eli Manning, Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Welch, Mary J. Blige, Thomas Keller, Pat Benetar, Holly Hunter, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Isaac Mizrahi. He maximizes his clients' readiness by sharing his knowledge of how the styles and tactics of interviewers differ among various programs and publications.
Bill reveals to his clients the questions most likely to be asked, and then helps them formulate the most compelling messages and storytelling to illustrate those responses. Providing sound strategies for handling crisis situations is also a resource he has developed at Clarity Media Group.
Bill is also an expert in public speaking and has prepared numerous clients for TED Talks, Matrix Awards acceptance speeches, major university commencement addresses and corporate shareholder meetings. He has helped transform from proficient to polished the public speaking abilities of executives from companies like Facebook, Google, The New York Times, Deutsche Bank, Spotify, Harley Davidson, Bloomberg and Campbell's Soup. As part of his coaching, he helps clients find their authentic narrative and then imparts a set of skills that enable them to deliver it with passion and persuasiveness.
He is also the author of “Pitch Perfect: How to Say it Right the First Time, Every Time” published by Harper Collins in 2014.
